1972 : No Race took place - Winner was voted for by Club Members
1973 - 1980 : Races for Novices Only - Organised by the Longdendale Stock Car Supporters Club
1981 - 1989 : Races for Novices Only - Organised by BSCDA - NB. 1981 race took place in early 1982
1990 - 1996 : Whites or Whites & Yellows Race with first Novice home awarded the title
1997 : Race for Novices Only
1998 - 2000 : Whites or Whites & Yellows Race with first Novice home awarded the title
2001 : Top Scoring Novice of a meeting
2002 : Top Scoring Novice in the second half of the National Series Rounds
2003 - 2008 : Top scoring Novice in all the National Series Rounds
2009 - 2010 : Top scoring Novice in the Shoot-Out Rounds
2011 - 2018 : Top scoring Novice over the whole season
2019 - The Novice Of The Year scores normal grading points but with a multiplier.
The further up the grades a novice climbs the more points they will score towards the Novice Of The Year.
The multipliers are Whites x1, Yellows x2, Blues x3 and Reds and Superstars x4.
