Grand National Summary

Originally set up to entice drivers to race the last race of the evening. Prior to 1971, the last race of the evening (Helter Skelter) suffered low turnouts due to no points being on offer.
Points from the Grand National races were accumulated for a special one off race towards the end of season.
Each year a different format for the race was tried until it was decided that the GN points would be used to create a one off race with the highest point scorer on pole.
Only year the race wasn't run was 1979 when the Silver Jubilee meetings took precedence.
In 2013 the race was dropped in favour of seasonal points tally.
2021 reverted back to a one off race in GN Points order.
