DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I saw it advertised in the NATIONAL PRESS 1954

What gave you the incentive to race
I originally wanted to be a circuit racer, but when I found out that I was going to be paid £5 + prize money for Stock Car Racing, I went off and got myself a car!!!!

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
22HP V8 Ford, cut off pick up (Big Mistake!!)

Memory of your first race.
Fourth in my Heat at Arlington (Eastbourne) - May 1955 - Aged 17.

Best Racing Memory
Second behind Johnnie Brise in a heat at Arlington 1956

Worst Racing Memory
Knocked out when hitting post and wire fence at Arlington in 1956

Reason for Retiring
When the "Specials" started in 1958, I couldn't afford to continue racing as I wasn't competitive any longer and all my funding came from my race money. I always thought Stock Cars should be "Chassis and Body belong".

After Retiring - What Then?
I have been a painter, Hotelier, Amusement Park Owner and Turkey Farmer!! As for Stock Cars I have been re-united in 2004, thanks to the Heritage Cars of which one of the cars was mine!
