DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
My uncle was a friend of Joe Jopling and took me to Aycliffe in'79. I'd never heard of stox before but Joe sat me in the car and started it up, hooked from then!

What gave you the incentive to race
Promised myself I'd do it one day and at 41, took the plunge and borrowd a car off 218 who I sponsored at the time (still do).

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
Bought off Derek Fairhurst but did have a hand in the original build and paint. When Bob Timperley emigrated decided to buy the car and take on Bob's half of the garage rent.

Memory of your first race.
Just remember trying to stay out of the way as much as possible and keep out of trouble. Didn't quite go to plan as 390 stuck me up the side of another white top 'cos we were fannying around on his bit of track !!

Best Racing Memory
Good races at Ippy and Brum (all in the wet) should have won at least 2 but yellow flags got in the way on several occaisions. Also went well at Buxton keeping much respected Mark Helliwell and FWS behind me for several laps to finish 8th in the final.

Worst Racing Memory
Car packing up with elec fault and coming to a halt on start line at Cowdie, got hit by Wez Goodwin at full chat...really hurt that and cost nearly 2 grand to fix!

Reason for Retiring
Money, time, money, lack of engineering skills, money, gave myself 2 years to get up the ranks, did'nt do that so sold up. As it happens if I'd raced 2009 I would have graded yellow due to 2 good Birminghams at the end of 2008. Sold the car in winter '089 so never raced as yellow roof !

After Retiring - What Then?
Life !!!! Still get involved with a few paint jobs, sponsor 218217 in F1's and Josh Coleman in the two's
