DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
First saw Stock Cars at West Ham in 1961, having always been fascinated as a youngster seeing them being towed to meetings through my local roads round East London.

What gave you the incentive to race
It was always a schoolboy dream to have a go but one you thought would never come true and if it wasn't for fantastic friends like Ray Scriven and Ian Hall it would have remained a dream.

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
Ray Scrivens ex Frank Bourne car

Memory of your first race.
Having never raced or even practiced I foolishly started at the front of the grid at Coventry in a major heat, gave to the car far too much on the loud pedal, put the car in a spin and crossed the start line backwards and ended up in the fence.

Best Racing Memory
Taking a massive half lap lead in a white top event at Northampton in Ray Scrivens newly acquired John Cayzer car, spinning the car myself with pure excitement, losing everything but then driving on masses of fuel filled adrenelin to finish third and of course the other high has to be qualifying for your first meeting final proper. Or it could even be taking a certain Stuart Smith out of a race one wet and horrible night at Long Eaton - Mind you he got his revenge at Rochdale when I raced there and planted me firmly over the fence cables.

Worst Racing Memory
My first race memory was also my worst!

Reason for Retiring
It was a case of when Ian retired then I retired.

After Retiring - What Then?
Still very much interested in the sport but these days only tend to do the major events, some Dutch meetings or if a new venue should open I'll be there. It's always nice when people remember you as part of the once "infamous" Halls and Ralls team.
