Jason Cronshaw
Rochdale, Lancs

DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I was raised by my grandparents, Douglas Cronshaw Snr and Kathleen Cronshaw. So from 1971 onwards whenever Doug raced i was usually around.

What gave you the incentive to race
It was all i ever wanted to do, to be like my uncle.... that's the only reason why i became a mechanic.

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
I popped down to see Andy Smith and he had a new Hotstox down there. It was built by Frankie Wainman Snr i think, so i decided to have a go at building one. By the time i'd finished it Andy had moved onto F1 and i used to mechanic for him. I had a go in his car at Hartlepool in a mechanic's race and i was doing ok until the gearbox fell out and Thorny and Binsey crashed into me!!! That was my first time in an F1.

Memory of your first race.
My first proper race in an F1 was at Long Eaton. I'd changed my Hotstox into an F1. I lasted about 10 laps!

Best Racing Memory
Winning a heat at Stoke, plus i did really enjoy racing at Skegness.

Worst Racing Memory
Getting stuffed by John Wright #128 at Hednesford...ouch! what a hard fence! (If we ever meet on track again watch out John!! ha ha)

Reason for Retiring
Funds and time.....or lack of !!!

After Retiring - What Then?
Alot has happened since i last raced...Got married to Gorgeous Kate, had a little girl and became a stepfather too, emigrated down under and came back again.lol! Now living and working in Heywood,Lancs and we're home teaching my daughter Chloe as she is Autistic. So we're really busy at the moment!!! Gears and Tears woke up the stockcar bug in me.......but at the moment i don't have the time to race...... But i'd say never say never.
