How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
Father Malc used to race number 39.
What gave you the incentive to race
Having competed in mini's and having my dad's unfinished F1 sat in the garage for 10 years, it only seemed logical to finish it off and have a go.
First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
First car was built by Roger Bowyer ex 92 37. It was built new for my dad in about 1983 but due to work load never got finished until I finished mini's. It's now still going strong with number 431 Ian Bond.
Memory of your first race.
August bank holiday at Bradford 1994. Pretty nervous but just had a plod round and kept out of trouble. It was a great feeling broadsiding round the bends after racing the front wheel drive mini's.
Best Racing Memory
First final win at Sheffield June 2002. I had only had my first win the day before (consolation at Belle Vue) and wasn't feeling too good after only 8th in the heat. Remember sitting on the grid for the final, I was the only white top, there was a couple of yellows and the rest were blues and reds. I thought to myself I'd better get my toe down or this is gonna hurt when that train catches me. I hardly put a wheel wrong all race and took it easily. My girlfriend at the time said I looked like I was on drugs after the race - pure adrenalin!
Worst Racing Memory
Getting roll cage damage at knockhill, working all week to get it fixed, travelling to Kings Lynn the following saturday and managing about 5 laps of my heat before I got exact same damage again!! It's hard to keep motivated when it gets like that.
