DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I started watching F1 in 1957 with my dad. On reaching 16, I discovered motorbikes and girls and lost interest in F1's a bit (1963). In 1972, I was married with a child, and started Hell Driving (Bangers) for Mike Parker at White City, Nelson and Rochdale etc.

What gave you the incentive to race
Progressing to Bangers and winning the Gold Roof in 1978 (MPP), I decided to try F1.

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
First and only car was bought from Rod Falding (ex.36) at Christmas 1979. Rod raced at Belle vue on Boxing Day 1979, I then bought the car and raced it as #456 at White City on New Years Day 1980 (Tarmac).

Memory of your first race.
Qualifying for the final at White City in my very first race.

Best Racing Memory
Winning the Banger Gold Roof at Rochdale in 1978, in front of a packed F1 crowd. We were the support formula that day.

Worst Racing Memory
-

Reason for Retiring
Unfortunately I was not good enough nor had the funds to improve!

After Retiring - What Then?
I did do a bit more Banger racing, but mainly restricted to spectator and then supported my Nephew Gareth at BriSCA Ministox early 1990's. From my time in F1, I always admired F1 driver Bob Heaney from Preston. He was Nutty as a fruitcake!!!!
