DRIVER INTERVIEW

How did you find Brisca F1 Stock Cars?
I was introduced to BRISCA F1 in 1960 by Bob Lester, later #129 when I was 15 years old. I travelled with him to many meetings over the next couple of years.

What gave you the incentive to race
I came to know Pat Willis #25, Ted Pankhurst #104, and the Elliott Brothers, Geoff #135 and Bill #136. Also Roy Clarke #146J616, this gave me the incentive to race.

First Car - Built, Bought or Borrowed
I built my first car #260 with the help of Tony Clarke brother of Roy Clarke #146J616, and Jaguar engine by Pat Willis #25.

Memory of your first race.
My first race was at my favourite track, Coventry, it was like a dream and the car flew!

Best Racing Memory
After my first race at Coventry in car #260, Fred Mitchell #38 came up to me to ask, what I had under the bonnet as he found it difficult to catch me.

Worst Racing Memory
Hearing of the tragic death of Brian Wallace #119 at White City, Manchester in 1976.

Reason for Retiring
I wanted to be able to compete with the top drivers, but couldn't afford the car to do it. Also finding the time to race and run my Transport business.

After Retiring - What Then?
I continued to go to meetings as a spectator up until the 90's when I had time. I now live in Thailand so can only see Stockcars on the internet.
