Stoke (Chesterton)

TRACK PROFILE

Mike Parker, Bill Morris, Stuart Smith, Vince Moody, Dennis Higgins, Tim Mann, Dave Pierce and Steve Rees have all promoted Stoke over the years and lost money badly!!
2002 saw the owners give rights to a Speedway Promoter, and Stock Cars ceased.

Steve Rees added - "Just to correct a point re much maligned Chesterton - We did quite well during our period from 1995-2001 at Stoke and it had built up well in crowd support and was profitable - what Stoke needed was a period of stability and we are looking forward to going back in 2011 which we would not be doing if it had been a disaster for us previously. I know my predecessors had viability issues and to be fair it took us a couple of years to get to grips with the place but it worked out well for us and we were very disappointed when the Speedway Promotion were allocated the new lease as it was at that stage vibrant with a mix of four/five events for F1 and Bangers and local formulae at the rest".

Stoke however was to make a surprise return for a one off meeting in 2012.
